Like the psalmists of old, my heart bubbles over with a good theme.
Let all my words, my every composition, be addressed to my King and let my tongue be the pen of the ready writer.
Oh Lord, incomparable and loving God, thank you for the words you put in my heart!
Give my words life.
Take them as far and as wide as You desire. Don’t allow my feeble thoughts to limit You in any way.
Let my every word honor you. And let them bring honor to others.
Give me a spirit of truth in the inner parts and the ability to speak only what I know, what I’ve lived.
I pray Lord, for an authentic voice.
Since I have the mind of Christ and His mind is infinitely, deeply creative, let me mine the depths of the creative flow you assigned to me before the foundation of the world!
Just as you know my thoughts before I even think them, you know my words before there is yet one of them on the page.
Always, always let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart and everything I write be pleasing in your sight.
I know Lord I am but one voice in a great company of those called to write. As you watch over your word, watch over our words that each one, each word, honors you at all times.
Many have come before us and many will be after so, above all, let our words leave a legacy of love.
“The Lord gave the Word. Great was the company of those who proclaimed it.” Psalm 68:11
