It’s been awhile since I’ve posted and I’ll share more about why in a future post.
If you’re a new subscriber and found me through one of my many recipes, just know that I do post lots of recipes and will continue to but I also love to blog about faith and family and the things the Lord is teaching me. Today is one of those posts that includes some personal updates but I promise, some great recipes are coming soon and I’ve got links at the bottom to my favorite recipes for Memorial Day!
I’m not ashamed to share why I’ve not been posting much lately but I’m a little nervous because it’s personal and it’s been a difficult and unexpected challenge. Here’s the update. I’ve been struggling with anxiety that literally hit me out of nowhere and has left me crippled on and off for the last 5 months. I’m working with a doctor now and getting bio-identical hormones and tweaking my diet and it seems to be helping but let me tell you, it has been a debilitating and frightening season. I’ll be downloading the whole story soon but in the meantime, I want to share with you, my faithful readers, a few updates to our lives and a couple links I think you’ll enjoy.
I’m sharing my thoughts about The God Dare over at www.KatieMReid.com today. I’d be thrilled if you clicked on the link and read my post. Here’s a little bit:
“Have you ever felt the tug in your conscience of a really big thing? You’re not sure what it is exactly but you know without a doubt it’s God calling you, nudging you, daring you to more than you ever believed possible.
It likely feels far beyond your capabilities, much bigger than you, and virtually impossible to pull off on your own but the still small voice thunders through your being, grips your heart, and won’t let go.
I heard it clear as a bell a couple of years ago….”
I’ve also recorded a podcast with the Consilium where we’re talking all about my years in Broadway Theatre, raising an only child, my struggle with infertility and failed adoptions, Motherhood:The After Party (the empty nest years) and the book I’m working on called The God Dare. I hope you’ll join me and check out the links and leave me a comment!
Baby Update! First and foremost, the biggest change in our lives occurred March 20th when our newest, adorable, perfect grandson Issac James Goodwin arrived!
Get this, he weighed 10 pounds 9 ounces! A big boy with the most beautiful blue eyes and for now, blond hair. He is perfection and this Mimi is in love!
What a snuggle bunny!
I love the way the Norwegians define having grandchildren. They say “grandchildren are life’s dessert” and I couldn’t agree more!
In other news, after two years of having our house on the market on and off, we finally have a contract on our house and if all goes smoothly, we will be moving to Nashville in mid-July! We haven’t found a house yet but we know God has it all under control so we aren’t worried. I’m excited to be near those babies, believe me! It’s been a long and admittedly frustrating season to wait and wait and wait and if you’re in one of those seasons, maybe this post will help you.
