Nothing can warm you to your toes like a big steaming bowl of chili! It’s perfect for these cold winter days and there’s nothing more comforting than a pot bubbling on your stove filling your house with an undeniably amazing fragrance. I know what you’re thinking. Cinnamon in chili? Is she nuts? And chocolate-how can that be any good? All I can say is trust me. This is my most requested recipe of all time. People love it and I think if you give it a try, you will too!
Secrets of The God Dare
“We’ve got it all wrong. We’re searching for the very thing pursuing us. We search, we dig, we look. We fret and question, wonder and worry and all along it’s right in front of us, right under our nose. Can you smell the fragrance? It’s enticing in it’s might. Frightening and overwhelming our senses with power and possibility. Drawing us, reminding us of something we used to know and believe but have forgotten somewhere along the way. It’s all around us, pregnant in every day, infusing each moment small and large, ordinary and awesome. It’s God’s ‘yes’. His cosmic smile and nod of the head, his holy high-five, beckoning us to believe. Begging us to take Him at His word. To once and for all let go of fear, worry, pride and strife and just say yes to His yes.
Lasagna with Meatballs, Spinach and Béchamel
Doesn’t that just warm your heart on these cold winter days? Hot, cheesy and wonderful, a classic lasagna with homemade meatballs and sauce and a creamy layer of Béchamel underneath to make it extra wonderful. Don’t be scared by Béchamel sauce. It’s a super easy white sauce with a little nutmeg added in. It adds a wonderful richness to the lasagna that takes a classic comfort food to a whole new level. Once you try it, you may never go back!
Popovers
When I was growing up, popovers were a staple on holidays. Made either by my mom or sister, we would devour them along with crisp bacon, scrambled eggs my dad made special by adding cheese & chives, and fresh fruit. They’re lovely, light, crisp and slightly eggy and the perfect vehicle for soft butter and homemade jam or marmalade. You can also do a savory version with cheese and herbs. I keep mine very simple.
Tomato Soup & Grilled Cheese Croutons
What’s more comforting than a rich bowl of creamy, warm tomato soup? Maybe with a little sass added to it, a few ingredients to kick it up a bit. A dash of basil, a glug of heavy cream, a pinch of crushed red pepper, a smidge of sundried tomatoes. Blend it all together, put grilled cheese croutons on top and you’ve got dinner worthy, guest worthy soup. And it’s soup-er easy to put together. In fact, I bet you already have most of the ingredients in your pantry right now!
