I don’t like to fly. I love to travel but flying is not my favorite for many reasons, mostly my lack of being able to control the airplane. However, there’s one thing I do love about flying. I love to look at the clouds, those big fluffy, white, cumulous, cotton-ball clouds, pure and clean, soft and so inviting. If you fly on a clear day you can see the roads and the fields and the cars like tiny black bugs crawling all over the ground.
I always get a window seat when I fly. Always. Because I love to look out the window, far above the clouds where all the people and all my problems shrink to tiny specks. I get a new perspective every time I’m in the air and I realize the truth of where my position actually is: Above.
I’m learning it’s all about perception and perspective.
Perception, what you see and how you see it, is your reality. It’s not necessarily truth but it’s your truth. Only one thing can change your perception and that’s your perspective. The place you’re looking at life from.
We go through life dragging our heavy burdens behind us, the chains of our misconceptions birthed in wrong perceptions. We drag around our version of truth except it’s not truth.
It’s just our perception of truth.
Our carnal mind thinks: It’s not fair, I got a raw deal, I have no purpose, I’m of little value, my sin has disqualified me, I’m too old, I’m still single, etc. We sit and complain, wallow and moan and tremble. That is, unless our perspective changes. Paul reminds us of our true position.
“We are risen with Christ and seated in heavenly places.” Ephesians 2:6
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17,
When we know our position, where we really, truly are, we gain a new perspective and our perception shifts from lies to truth. And what loomed large suddenly shrinks, like those specks on the ground. Because our true position as believers is this:
We are above everything He is above.
We are seated where He is seated, above what He is above. And we have His authority! Authority over everything we’re above. And we’re above Everything! Above fear, guilt, shame, depression, impossible situations, accusations and the lies of the enemy, above anything and everything dragging us down.
We see ourselves earth-bound, weighted down with insurmountable problems. He sees us above, sitting with Him, resting and at peace. Oh what a glorious thing to consider!
It’s time we stopped inviting our past to determine our future!
It’s time to remember His will for us is blessing, abundant life and victory. It’s time to stop seeing our lives as only a battlefield filled with depression, fear, anxiety, guilt and rejection. It’s time to be overcomers, more than conquerers. Yes it’s a battle but I’m here to remind you, we win!!!
Our mind is the frontline of our faith and we are only changed as we renew our minds. In fact, Paul says we are transformed. We are changed, remodeled, transfigured, reconstructed! We become like Him as we behold His truth and let go of ours.
It’s time to change our mindset from fear to faith.
It’s time to stop letting the pain of our past and the fear of our future affect all the potential of our present.
Today is the day! Join me in the air, in heavenly places, seated next to Christ and watch your perceptions change!! Let’s fly together!
Do you feel God leading you to change your perception and gain His truth? How can I pray for you?
