Prayer for my Grandson

A couple of years ago and one of my favorite photos!

Nine years ago you crept in and stole my heart. I knew I’d love you but hardly expected you would utterly melt my heart. Completely, unashamedly. And now you have 2 little brothers and a sister!

The day you were born, my role grew from wife, mom, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to include the greatest title ever on the planet: Grandmother! Or, as you named me, Mimi!

Matthew Elijah, you are my heartbeat. I never had the chance to raise a son but having you in my life, getting to watch you grow, cook for you, hug and love you blesses me more than you will ever know.

I know God has an amazing, startling plan for your life. He is always with you and I can’t wait till you get to know Him. You are going to love Him so much! I’m certain you will delight in Him always.

The most important way I can affect your life is to pray for you. Here are 18 prayers that will make a difference and impact the future:

My prayers for you:

  1. I pray that you will come to know Christ at an early age and relentlessly pursue Him until your last breath.

  2. I pray you will know your calling early and follow hard after it.

  3. I pray you will dream big, pray hard and love ferociously every day you’re on this planet.

  4. I pray your life will be marked with humility, honesty and integrity. Living like that will require you to go against the flow but you are incredibly strong.

  5. I pray maintaining purity will be important to you. In your body, mind and spirit. The culture will try to drag you down but I’m praying you will always be strong and resist every temptation.

  6. I know you will have a great sense of humor and an ability to make people laugh. I’m excited about that! I pray you’ll use your gift to bless others and help them during tough times.

  7. I pray you’ll be a generous man. You will give to others no matter what because you’ll know that everything you have, everything you’ve been given is His anyway.

  8. I pray, like your mom and dad, you’ll be a world changer. Your life is incredibly important to God and He has something special planned only you can do. In fact, He created you to do it before the foundation of the world.

  9. I pray you will always use wisdom with your words. Words either build up or tear down, they either speak life or death. Choose carefully.

  1. I pray you’ll continue to grow in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man.

  2. I pray you’ll have a strong sense of discernment and an ability to clearly hear God’s voice.

  3. I pray you will honor your mother and father that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

  4. I pray you will always love and protect your siblings.

  5. No matter what God calls you to do, I pray you’ll do it fearlessly. Or, just do it afraid. But do it.

  6. I pray you will do the right thing, even when it costs you.

  7. I pray you will be a man of your word and a man who will honor his commitments.

  8. I pray you will never be afraid to believe the impossible.

  9. I pray you will live like you mean it.

I also have prayers for my granddaughter and you can read them here: Twenty Things I’m Praying for my Grand daughter.
In this post, How to Pray for Your Grandchildren  I share practical tips that will help focus your prayers.
I am blessed beyond measure. God has seen fit to give me and my husband, Mike, 4 precious grandchildren and we are honored to be their Mimi & Poppy and to pray for them and be a part of their lives. I am utterly amazed and utterly thankful.
Eli is now 9, Audrey is 7, Isaac James is 3 ½ and Wyatt is 2 with baby number 5 due in January 2020! So, the family is growing and I couldn’t be more thrilled!

xoxo

Thank you so much Mariela! I’m glad it was a blessing to you. We have a precious responsibility as grandmothers to pray and believe for our grandchildren. Your grandson is blessed to have you. Blessings!

Thank you so much for sharing your prayer for your grandson. I was searching for some help to pray for my little 5 year old grandson this morning and found this page. I have notebooks for each of my kids and grandson that I write notes and prayers in for them. I have written these in my grandsons book so that I can reference them as he grows. He. Also calls me Mimi.
