Perfect Party Sandwiches

You’ve got a big event coming up or, maybe you’ve been invited to a holiday party and asked to bring something. What on earth should you make?

Let me suggest these super easy and incredibly delicious party sandwiches! They’re a huge crowd pleaser and the best part? You can customize the recipe in several different ways.

Kids LOVE these so consider making a batch to freeze (don’t add the onions till you bake them) and bake ’em up when you need them.

See Kate’s Tips below for combo ideas.

Use any combo of meat and cheese or, go vegetarian and use avocado, veggies and cheese. So easy, so delish!

These Easy Chicken Sliders are great for a party, too!

Kate’s Tips

  • Try ham and cheddar, turkey and swiss, or roast beef and provolone. Ham and pineapple, or turkey/bacon/avocado. Feel free to use any combo you like!
  • I buy the French Hamburger Rolls from Publix. They work really well and have a little more heft to them than most dinner rolls.
  • Try biscuits or ciabatta bread for a slightly different twist.
  • If you’re prepping these in advance, don’t add the crispy onions. I lay the sandwiches out on sheet pans, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate until I’m ready to heat them. Add the onions before you put them in the oven so they don’t get soggy.
  • During the holidays, turkey and cranberry sauce with swiss cheese and the crispy onions would be amazing!
  • Add crisp bacon to take these over the top.
  • If you want to keep it vegetarian, try avocado, veggies, arugula, and cheese.
  • Make them spicy and use pepper-jack cheese.
  • When you serve these at your holiday party, I guarantee they’ll be the hit of the night!
  • I use these Crispy Onions.
  • This is the mayonnaise I use…and the dijon mustard.
  • These organic bread and butter pickles are great.
  • Try adding a teaspoon or so of worcestershire sauce to the mayo/mustard mixture.
  • Feel free to add sliced banana peppers or a thin slice of a ripe tomato or pickled jalapenos. Try whatever you like!
  • Roast pork and melty cheese would be great and meatballs and some sauce and mozzarella would be over the top amazing 🙂
  • If your grocery store has gluten free buns, try those!

If you make these, let me know how they turned out and how you switched up the recipe to make them your own!!

I think about heaven a lot. I can sense a hint of the banquet, hear an echo of the orchestra tuning up. I can almost smell the bread baking, hear the hustle and bustle of those setting the table getting all things ready.⠀
⠀
When I go outside, I feel the ache in nature, desperate to give voice to centuries of silence. I catch a glimpse of eternity in a perfect flower or a shooting star.⠀
⠀
But I don't want to spoil my appetite. I prefer to wait with eager anticipation because even though I don't fully know what I'm waiting for, I do know this: I was made for a specific, incredible, perfect place and I know Who's I am. I know a day is soon coming when I'll look up and see the sight my heart ever longs for, the sight I was made for—my King, coming on clouds of Glory, to take me up with Him where there is no more crying, no fear, no sorrow, no sin, no disease.⠀
⠀
We are all in a season of dying. We've had to die to our routines and expectations, our way of life that seemed normal and good just weeks ago. But in seasons of death, we can look for resurrection. Life is hard and confusing at the moment but it's still good. Death is hard but resurrection is always worth it. And resurrection is coming. New life, new ways of living are coming.⠀
⠀
"Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert" (Isaiah 43:19, ESV).⠀
⠀
He always makes a way, friend. It might not look the way you thought it would, but you can trust He has you. Now's the time to press in, lean into His heart, ask Him what He would have you do or say or learn during this time when so much makes so little sense. If you ask and quiet the noise of your heart, He will answer. ⠀
⠀
When Mary went to the tomb early that morning, she didn't recognize the resurrected Christ. She looked but didn't see...until He said her name. As soon as He said, "Mary," she knew.⠀
⠀
In seasons of dying, something will resurrect, I promise. ⠀

@joyfullifemagazine ・・・ After one baby, I de @joyfullifemagazine ・・・
After one baby, I dealt with infertility, or should I say, infertility dealt with me.
Everything I knew about God, motherhood, my purpose—all were tarnished by a hard season.⠀
⠀
The pain of a harsh diagnosis pierced my heart like a sword. Depression made a move when I realized the one thing I wanted—a big family—wasn't happening. After four failed adoption attempts, I had no clue what to do.⠀
⠀
The pain and loss grew each day, making me sad, resentful, and filled with self-pity. I had no room for gratitude and couldn't see the point in any of it. Years went by and the pain remained, with that empty feeling each time a friend announced a pregnancy. As I learned to manage the ache, it felt like telling a nasty dog, "Go sit over there. I'm not petting you," because whatever you pet sticks around. ⠀
⠀
God let me dangle over a precipice of self-pity until I was ready to do three things:. New post up at @momtomompodcast!. So much about Go New post up at @momtomompodcast!. So much about God and His Word is still a mystery, even to the greatest theological minds down through the ages. Faith–simple, childlike #faith is what holds the whole thing up. But, do we just stop there?
.
In 2 Timothy 2:15, we’re charged to rightly handle the Word of Truth and to study to show ourselves approved unto God. And in 1 Peter 3, we’re told to always be ready to give an account of the hope that we have in Christ.
.
Should part of that readiness be Biblical literacy–not just being able to quote Scripture, but being able to use those Scriptures to better know God–His character and attributes–and to better know the doctrines of our faith and how those are to be lived out in our everyday lives? .

Today, we’re joined by @phyliciamasonheimer who is going to help answer that question and hopefully give us some tips for living in the tension of both a simple faith and practical theology.
